The Flight of the Shaman, print on pigment paper, 2024

The composition visualizes shamanic journeying through several layers of symbolism. In Buryat mythology, the three spheres - yellow, white, and blue - represent the upper, intermediate, and lower worlds. The white sphere represents the Upper World, the realm of deities and benevolent spirits, characterized by purity and celestial wisdom. The blue sphere symbolizes the Middle World, our earthly realm of everyday existence and human experience. The yellow sphere represents the Lower World, associated with the cycle of death and rebirth.
The three spheres also correspond to the tripartite structure of the soul. The white sphere represents the first soul, which embodies the person's rational principle and higher consciousness. The blue sphere symbolizes the second soul, representing the vital energy and spirit that animates life. The yellow sphere corresponds to the third or lower soul, connected to basic instincts. The orange arcs create a sacred boundary within which these aspects of consciousness interact through flowing, intersecting lines.
